Steve has built this wonderful little model of the deHavilland Vampire for a .25 size 2-stroke motor (I think).  Built from a plan by prolific English designer Tony Nijhuis, the model sports solid balsa wings and a carved box fuselage resulting in a suprisingly light model.

The maiden flight took place on a less than perfect day with gusty winds coming across the field.  The hand launch was courtesy of Mike (didn’t know I had it in me) and the model got away very easily.  Initially a little twitchy on the elevator and some torque roll from the prop, Steve has now had two flights to trim it out.  I think we are all really looking forward to seeing this little model make many more flights down at LMMAC.
